To Supervise production line operation or services in accordance with company policies and procedures and ensure that the production or services run smoothly.

Primary Supervisor job description and responsibilities:

  • Ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Supervise production line operation or services in accordance with company policies, procedures and work instruction
  • Train and coach new employees.
  • Conduct employees performance reviews.
  • Responsible for schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
  • Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels.
  • Schedule and conduct shift meetings.
  • Responsible to meet shift production or services goals.
  • Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Plant Manager.
  • Complete shift paper work.
  • Assist in production as necessary.
  • Monitor the quality.

Knowledge and skill required in the supervisor job description:

  1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills is usually required depend on what company he works for. Acquired normally through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, machinery and other related services. It is normally acquired through two to five years of services experience.
  3. Able to use computers.
