Engineer Job Description

Engineer Job DescriptionWhat is the Engineer Job Description? There are many field of engineer such as Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Architect, Naval, etc. But generally the engineer will responsible for entire project cycle to include design, execution of project, and project completion.

Here are the general engineer job description:

    • Prepare engineering analysis of projects such as: preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.
    • Conduct surveys to gather field data related to their field.
    • Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
    • Prepare technical project specifications.
    • Perform engineering duties. Example for the civil engineer: surrounding the following; public works, buildings, sub-divisions, drainage, traffic, road, airport, tunnel, bridge, water supply, sewage, and environmental systems. Example for Mechanical Engineer: mechanical devices, components, engines, transportation equipment, environmental control, materials handling, machine tools, robots, automated manufacturing equipment, and power producing machines such as internal combustion engines, steam and gas turbines, and jet and rocket engines. Etc.
    • Manage project document printing process.
    • Manage project issues, budgets, and schedules.
    • Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details.
    • Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
    • Coordinate the activities of the design together with other engineer as a team.

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

    Engineer Job description usually requires knowledge of applicable international standards or codes and safety laws. Work environment usually requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics. Working knowledge of software tools such as CAD, PV Elite, Catia, Strudle, etc  is usually mentioned in the engineer job description file.
